The England Hawaiian Squareneck metal bodied guitar is a true powerhouse!
This Dobro has an OMI (Original Music Instruments) body with spider resophonic cone...this is the original Dobro body from the OMI factory once located in California. The "Dobro" name itself was last officially used at this factory; today, Gibson now owns the "Dobro" name as a registered trademark. The neck is manufactured by Custom Inlay...you'll be hard pressed to find a metal bodied squareneck Dobro anywhere.
This is the loudest squareneck Dobro I've ever played to date! It's got plenty of sizzle and power. In fact, more than any Dobro player would ever need...cut through any of the largest bluegrass jam sessions without having to forcefully pick to gain volume. For playability, this Dobro has a nice string height minimizing any potential pick noise caused by the coverplate being too close to the strings. A really nice feature of this Dobro is that the neck joins the body at the 14th fret. This adds to the sustain and volume of the instrument...I love the playability of a 14-fret squareneck...another unique feature that's difficult to find on a squareneck is the wood inlaid frets...highly visible as compared to standard metal frets. Subject: Just a thanks
Hi Mickey and friends at Folk of the Wood.
I just want to send a belated thanks to all. My
England Hawaiian arrived late last week and I just
love it! I'm enjoying it very much, even though I'm
just beginning with the forward rolls and messing
around. Practice is fun. I've just ordered an SP-4
Steel to see if that makes a difference also.
