"The Deluxe is one of the most popular models of the Deering line. The gloss finish, ebony fingerboard, diamond-shaped inlays and estra trim on the back of the resonator and along the edge of the peghead are features that make a more elegant instrument.

The mahogany neck and resonator create a sweet tone. Made with the same three-ply maple rim, sand-cast virgin bell bronze tone-ring, zinc flange and nickel plated metal parts that we use on our most expensive banjos, the Deluxe offers a great sound. It is basically the same as the top-of-the-line but without the most costly cosmetics.

It's great sounding, great playing and great looking. Dollar for dollar, the Deluxe is one of the best banjo values available anywhere.

Subject: My new Deering Deluxe & Folk of the Wood-"Folks"
Date: Fri, 05 Jul 2002 14:58:47 +0000

Mickey, Bryan, & all you that make Folk of the Wood work,
I laid my old banjo down twenty, yes twenty years ago. Getting married and all that "stuff" just pushed my banjo under the bed. About six months ago I picked my old tired banjo back up from under my daughter's bed and started again. If you are wondering if it all came back, that's easy. NO! I had to start all over. But it was worth it. My old banjo just could not produce the sound that I wanted & needed.
I looked at all the stores here in the metro Atlanta area and I was very disappointed at the quality and price. Everyone told me that since one of the latest popular movies no one could keep good banjos. Whatever.
See, I am a teacher so, I must watch how I spend what comes in each month. I was very disappointed in what I found in the stores so I started shopping the NET. I nearly made a mistake by ordering another banjo from another Internet dealer. I just did not have a good feeling so I kept searching and found Folk of the Wood. After praying about it and my wife agreed I called Bryan and he took care of the rest. Bryan helped me select a Deering Deluxe. I just could not find a Deluxe here in the Atlanta area to know if this was the "right" choice. Bryan listened carefully to what I wanted to accomplish and he told me what he thought would be best. Yes it did take just under two months to receive my new Deering Deluxe but it was completely worth every anxious time I saw the UPS delivery truck come down the street. I got the banjo just prior to the 4th of July. Great timing.
As a side note..... My wife knows nothing about banjos except I want a new one and they are expensive. When the Deluxe arrived I did not want to tell her it was here. She detected the new sound and really liked the sound and look.
Thanks guys for your store, service, quality, & price. With all the bogus stuff on the internet it is so re-assuring to find honest businesses such as Folk of the Wood. As I mentioned it was so refreshing to find the attention to detail without the sale gimmick "stuff". Your trade up policy is very unusual and I can't wait to use it to trade up to a newer banjo.
Thanks, Mickey & Bryan for making owing a great banjo possible.

One happy customer,

Charles Fraley, Georgia

Date: 16 Jun 00 Rec'd my new Deering Deluxe yesterday. Came in good condition. Took it to band practice last night. Will have to get used to its loudness and the strings being close to the head will force me to modify my frailing stroke a bit. Looks good. Sounds great. Plays smoooooooth. Thanks for the excellent service. I'll tell my friends. Mike Moxcey

"I happend to sit down with the Deering that first time and made the mistake of closing my eyes. That is what causes me to be sending the warranty card to you today. When I judged the banjo by sound and feel, there was, for me, no comparison... The Deering Deluxe is right there -- I guess pretty isn't worth a penny if it doesn't sound and play the way you want it to!" Bill Robie • Madison, VA

"I purchased a Deering Deluxe five-string about four years ago...Its playability and sound is great. My instructor thinks it sounds better than his pre-WWII Mastertone. Thank you for making a great sounding, great playing banjo." Jason Fruit • Manhattan, KS
