Your First Melody

If you've gotten to this point, and feel extremely comfortable with the previous exercises, you're now prepared to play your first melody. Remember, all numerals represent downstrokes and all "&s" represent upstrokes.

Spirit of '76/The Gal I Left Behind Me

This is a melody that sounds exactly like "The Spirit of 76"...it's based on the same notes as we utilized in our previous "G Scale" exercises...

Which finger to use follows:
First Fret: Index Finger
Second Fret: Middle Finger
Third Fret: Ring Finger
Fourth Fret: Little Finger
