Greetings Lon,

We have a new section on learning to play 6-String banjo at:
For free acoustic music lessons:
http://www.folkofthewood.com/page3.htm

This section involves tuning your 6-string banjo to open-G tuning...similar to a 5-string...and allows you the ability to sound more like a 5-string banjo...rolls and studies are included. Now, it will be updated over time...for there are only a few lessons posted to date.

We also have the only video instruction available on the 6-string banjo at:
For a listing of Wisdom of the Wood instructional books and videos:
http://www.folkofthewood.com/page645.htm

This is far more in-depth and covers all aspects of playing a 6-string banjo...including chording, flatpicking and fingerpicking. Lots of fun to pursue...

Playing straight-ahead guitar chords on a 6-string can be done...only, you'll want to be extra careful about your attack...for it's easy to get a muddy sound from strumming a 6-string. It's best to arpeggiate the notes on a 6-string...you can still use the same guitar chord progressions only the arpeggiations offer a cleaner sound.

Mickey
