Subject: question about printing
Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2005 18:01:08 -0500

I just tried to print this page:
http://www.folkofthewood.com/page5048.htm

When I did a normal printing, I missed the right 1/3 of the pages. When I tried using 'landscape' printing, I got the entire width of the page all right, but I didn't get measures 9 through 16. I'm not sure why.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Jim Purcell

Greetings Jim,

Yes, I understand...our tab/notation manuscripts were designed for easy viewing on a monitor...therefore, they do not print well...there have been a few that have been successful and submitted their workarounds on our site...check out the FAQ section on the Online Lessons section...

One that I've found, that works well, is to save the manuscript as a graphic...just download it as an image file...move it to a graphics program, and then reduce the size. We're going to press with all of our online lessons...so you might want to await this piece to be released within a book.

Hope this helps, Mickey

Subject: Mandolin Online Lessons

Hi

I am interested in taking the mandolin lessons online. Have not been able
print out the music part so I can Practice. Is it this way for a reason.
If there is a book with these lessons in it that you sell, I would be interested
in the mandolin and later on the banjo.

Thanks Ed Stover

Greetings Ed,

Thanks for your interest in our Lessons Section. Yes, these lessons are designed for full-page viewing on a monitor. They weren't set up for printing purposes. Just the same, there have been a few who were successful in printing these. Their discoveries can be found in our FAQ section of the Lessons section at:
For free acoustic music lessons:
http://www.folkofthewood.com/page3.htm

And, yes, we also have plans to release a book representing each instrument section of our online lessons. It's release date may not be until March 2005. Please stay tuned on our website for updates...

Best of luck to you and thanks for tuning in, Mickey

Subject: printing

Hi
I'm finding your free lesson site @ folkwood quite informative.
However I can't print any of your lessons because they all get chopped off @ the right margin.

Is this intentional? ( copyright or something ? )

The problem does not seem to be with my printer settings. The pages are just too big!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you
Robert

Greetings Robert,

If you'll check out the FAQ section, within our Free Lesson section, you'll find that many have encountered this very same problem. Yes, these lessons were set up large for viewing on a monitor at a distance...hence, they weren't intended for printing. Notwithstanding, we're currently working on a book version for each lesson section...

Here are some printing solutions...hope something works for you:

Subject: REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE

Dear Mickey,
I have had a wonderful time (all morning) with your website.
It is incredible. I'm so excited to have found it.
I am 65 years old and have short term memory loss so I
was trying to print out your fingerboard layout because it
would be perfect to pin to my wall as I practice. However,
when I try to print it out I only get half of it or at least up
to Fret 4 and the rest does not print. HOw come?
It would be wonderful to see the whole fingerboard on
my wall to practice. Can y ou help me?
Love your lessons.
You are great.
God Bless

Greetings Sister Shirl,

I'm glad to have been of assistance...the size of the music, or fingerboard layout, is designed for ease of viewing on a monitor. Hence, it is not sized properly for printing...we've had a few of our readers that have been successful on printing out the music on our online lessons. I've posted their methods on our FAQ section of the online lessons section.

Please view this section at:
http://www.folkofthewood.com/page5310.htm

Let me know how else I might assist...

Mickey
