I first wrote this tune as a crosspicking piece...and eventually determined that it also makes an excellent fingerstyle mandolin piece. The piece below can be played entirely with a flatpick...omitting the "pinched" notes which require the thumb and index to play.
If you'd like to learn more about crosspicking mandolin, or need more material to accomplish as a fingerstyle mandolinist, be sure to check out the Mel Bay title: "Mandolin Crosspicking Technique". Every crosspicking tune in this book can be effectively played with a fingerpicking approach...hence, whenever you see a piece written out in crosspicking fashion, try it out with your fingerpicking techniques you've learned here. Crosspicking mandolin is essentially an arpeggiated form of playing mandolin; crosspicking arrangements are almost meant for fingerstylists more so than flatpickers.
