Fingerpicking Patterns "Arpeggio Study #1"

Now, we're going to focus on fingerpicking patterns....these patterns can be used in most any context...for back-up on vocals or other lead instruments. Once you feel comfortable with the first couple of measures, you'll find that the rest of the study will come easier...for, the pattern repeats itself throughout these chord progressions.

Goals: 1. To keep an even tempo. 2. To hit only the strings designated in the sheet music. 3. To gain facility with alternating between the thumb and index fingers. 4. To learn how to switch over to other strings without faltering or accidentally hitting other strings. 5. To gain the coordination between the left and right hands. 6. To memorize fingerpicking patterns that can be applied to other chord progressions.

Picking Hand: T = Thumb • I = Index Finger • M = Middle Finger
