Dear Mickey,

We hope things are well with you and want to send our very best wishes to you and your family at this festive time of year.

We have been busy responding to all your enquiries and sending out lots of product orders, including many gifts for left-handers all round the world.

In this newsletter

1. New products and gift ideas
2. Survey on left-handedness and job choices - Follow-up
3. Left-handed credit card?

1. NEW PRODUCTS AND GIFT IDEAS

I hope you have had a chance to see the new range of products that we included in our catalogue re-print recently. You can see all of the new items on a special page in our shop at

We have also produced a page of the most popular gift products that people have been ordering and you may still have time to get them delivered before Christmas.

2. SURVEY ON LEFT-HANDEDNESS AND JOB CHOICES - FOLLOW-UP

We have had a lot of interest and media coverage from all around the world for the results of our survey into left-handedness and career choices. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken part so far. You can see the interim results at
www.left-handersday.com/survey_results.html

There DOES seem to be some link between our handedness and the challenges that we face in some jobs and the number of us that either take or avoid those jobs. For example, among Personal Assistants, 90% thought there were fewer left-handers than average and related it to difficulties with office layouts and equipment and also writing, particularly shorthand.

Another strange exception involved editors of various publications. 25% of them thought there were definite disadvantages for left-handers in their profession and NONE thought there were advantages. Even so, 53% of them thought there were MORE left-handed editors than average, so there must be mental advantages that overcome the physical disadvantages.

These are only interim results, as the survey will continue until approx. May 2003, so if you have not yet taken part, please do so at
www.left-handersday.com/survey

If you have any thoughts on the results for particular groups so far or would be interested in being involved in further research, please let us know.

3. LEFT-HANDED CREDIT CARD

We are sure you are proud of being left-handed and would like to raise the profile of left-handers a little so that we get the consideration we deserve in the design and comfort of public areas, such as shops, bars and restaurants. We have been having brainstorms in the office, and came up with, what we think is a rather good idea to make a statement and get people thinking ----- the left-handers credit card! Totally exclusive, with an attractive and eye-catching design it would be a definite talking point at the shop counter or the restaurant table when everyone else puts down their boring old Gold Cards, and ours would be MUCH more exclusive!

We have been talking with the banks for a long time about the possibility of launching a left-handed credit card, and we hope to get something going in 2003. Because of the banking rules, it will initially be for UK residents only, but if it is successful we would hope to expand the scheme to other areas. Using a clearly printed left-handed credit card would make a great positive statement about your handedness and tell the person taking it that you are left-handed and to put the receipt and pen on the left side for you! The card would have all the normal benefits and a low interest rate plus also qualify the holder for discounts on our left-handed products when paying with the card.

We will need to make a commitment to produce a minimum number of cards so we would be very interested in your views - how would you like to have your own left-handed credit card?

We will be in touch again early in the new year with the latest news and details of our plans for 2003.

Mary Christmas and a Happy New Year from the Left-Handers Club Team.
