Squarneck Dobro: Instructional Videos

Date: Thu, 16 Sep 2004 22:54:26 EDT
Subject: regal rd52 black lighting dobro

Dear Mr. Cochran

Greetings Dub,

This note is regarding the regal rd52 black lighting. I am interested in learning to play the dobro, I am thinking of buying an regal rd52 with a factory installed QC cone. I would like to know your thoughts on this dobro, and would this be a good choice for a beginner, who has never played an instrument?

Most definitely...this is a superb dobro and a great value...only, we're somewhat back-ordered on these now. We should be getting our next shipment in soon. Call James for further info @ ...

Also, are the vhs videos a good way on learning to play.

Yes, instructional videos are the next best thing to having a personal instructor...our series is more of a methodology approach...teaching a foundation first and songs second. Most videos and books are songbook oriented...

Videos offer a visual approach of which books cannot come close to...for instance, teaching pull-offs and hammer-ons are next to impossible to teach through words and pictures...videos, or a personal instructor, would be far more effective.

Hope this helps...Mickey

I have inquired of others who do play, and none in my area seem to know of anyone that may teach dobro lessons to me,anything you can advise for me would be deeply appreaciated.
Thank you
Dub Behne
