Subject: regal rd52 black lighting

Dear Mr. Cochran,
I've never played an dobro, and only dabbled with quitar, but I really would like to learn to play the dobro,I've watched your video samplers, you make playing the instrument, look easy, but can a person my age(57) learn to play? I've ask several musicians in my area,no one here plays the dobro,to teach me.Also would you have in stock, the, regal rd52 black lighting? Would this be a good dobro to start with?
Thank You Mr. Cochran

Greetings,

Sure, there's no real limit to learning based on age itself...certainly, over time, there could be limitations, physical or mental, as you get older...however, 57 is still young...I would venture to say that age is still a state of mind...we create our own limitation no matter how old or young we are...I've had students in their teens that limited their ability just by convincing themselves that they didn't have the capability to learn. Hence, it is a state of mind. And, sometimes we just have to break the shackles of our mental closed mindedness.

If you're determined to learn the dobro, and you can't find an instructor locally, try an instructional video. A good methodology video will inspire you to practice, teach you good habits from the start, and make the learning process fun and easy.

Yes, the RD-52 is an excellent dobro to start out on...We're currently back-ordered on the RD-52 and have been for months...The Regals have been slow in coming these days. Many of our customers are having us convert the RD-45's and RD-75's with the Quarterman upgrades...which in some ways even supercede the RD-52 features. If you'd like to learn more about this process, or about the possibilities, call our in-house dobroist Tradd @ 888-209-8434...he can personally assist you with getting the right accessories and hopefully the perfect dobro to meet your needs. We also have a full dobro beginner's package available that includes everything you'll need to get started and maybe even keep you busy a couple of years...

Let me know how else I might personally assist you...and be sure to check out our free online lessons linked from below. Mickey
