Mickey,
Greetings Dave,
I am getting the hang of the rolls (on your Dobro video) - still have a *long*way to go :) I am trying to set aside 1/2 hour per night dedicated to practice. I have to keep slowing myself down as I want to get the timing right, if that makes sense.
This is fine...most students get ahead of themselves...and do not focus on timing. You're on track by making sure that your timing is right before speeding up...
In the video you work hard at left hand/steel placement, what about the right hand? I have long fingers, but it seems most natural to rest the bottom plam of my right hand on the bridge...is this correct?
Many dobroists do rest their hands on the coverplate above the bridge...there isn't anything necessarily wrong with this position. Only be aware, you will be limiting your area of attack. Sometimes I like playing closer to the fingerboard...and this can only be accomplished with a floating hand or pivoting with the little finger braced.
Was wondering of FOTW carried the products we last discussed - a stand, Martin guitar polish and fast fret? If so, where can I order them on the sight?
We have all three products in stock...we have the tubular stands with heavy duty bands...we used to have lots of Fast Fret on hand (I happen to have personally known the originator of the product Rico Schwartz) This product started out as Zenith Almond Stick of which Hans Keyser, dobroist from Albuquerque, discovered...Rico took it a step further by licensing it under the name of "Fast Fret"...which GHS eventually purchased and is now distributing...and, it really works well in keeping the strings somewhat alive...Call Tradd @ if you'd like to place a quick order by phone...we haven't listed all of our accessories online...Mickey
Thanks! Dave
