Roundneck Dobro Squareneck: Installing a Bone Nut

Subject: Re: Fwd: thanks

i did get the cone installed in my 30's regal and it improved the sound quite a bit. currently the nut on the guitar is a low one for fretting (it may be plastic). will installing the bone nut that came with the cone affect the sound in any way?

Sure...the bone nut adds more sustain in the open position...it's not going to make much difference when fretting..it is more durable than plastic... It's more critical to ensure that you have high density bridges....for, whether playing the string unfretted or closed, the sound still transcribes ultimately through the bridges...Mickey

thank for the advice
