Properly Tightening the Violin or Fiddle Bow

Subject: Re: New Beginner Violin
Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2004 17:02:49 -0400

Greetings Lisa,

I am thanking the Lord for you right now. I have a new violin, about 2 weeks ago.

I am finding no help in how to tighten the 'bow' properly and I can't find help in what the measurements are to place my fingers on the neck properly.

Your best option to learn how to properly tighten the bow, or how to properly place your fingers on the fingerboard, would be to hire a personal instructor. The next best option would be to invest in an introductory violin/fiddle video that teaches mechanics...such as offered by Wisdom of the Wood at:

If there is any chance that you can send me the measurements to place my fingers on the neck strings and tell me how to tighten the bow, I would so appreciate your help!

The bow should not be under or over tightened...in our video listed above, this is visually demonstrated...unfortunately, it would be next to impossible to write it out...as would be true of finger placement on the fingerboard.

sI do love your site and have visited it often the past couple of weeks. You have assisted me very much in learning the notes and such to the music.

Thanks so much for your positive feedback...we hope to add many more lessons soon...so, please stay tuned on our site for updates.

I have never played an instrument before. But the violin is a passion of mine and prayerfully will come to take place in my life finally.

Thank you for your help and your site! May the Lord keep you blessed, so that you may keep us all blessed also.

That's the nicest thing I've heard all month...thanks for sharing your appreciation with me...Mickey

In Thanks-
Lisa
