Subject: Help!
Dear folkwood,
I am a begining student and need help in tuning my violin. How do I do it? Are there any books to buy that will help?
Sincerely,
A frustrated violinist
Books can only teach the process for tuning in a theoretic sense...to physically learn to tune, really requires personal instruction by a qualified teacher. Or, the next best thing would be to purchase an instructional video that teaches the tuning process through audio and visual processes.
We do have a video that teaches the tuning process available titled: "Intro to the Violin and Fiddle":

Or, you might try to find a local music store where they can give you an orientation lesson on tuning...additionally, an essential tool in learning to play violin is the electronic tuner...such as the Korg CA-20 Chromatic Tuner. Even with this tool in your hands, you'll still want an orientation lesson on how to use it...through an instructor, or the video above of which does teach how to use the Korg electronic tuner.
Hope this helps, Mickey
