Acoustic Guitar for Left-Handed Players: Lefty Conversion

Date: Sun, 4 Jul 2004 18:43:48 +0100 (GMT Daylight Time)
Subject: left hand guitars!!!

Hi Mickey,

Just wondering if you would be able to answer a strange question for me! I had tried to learn to play the guitar right handed about 11 years ago, but one finger was too short to reach and put me off. I really want to start again and wondered if i am able to re-string a right handed guitar to convert to left hand?

regards nikkii

Greetings Nikkii,

Sure, a right-handed acoustic guitar can be converted to left-handed playing...only, be aware, depending on the style of guitar, you may end up with a pickguard that's upside down...additionally, it's recommended that the bridge be re-slotted for left-handed playing and the nut grooves need to be slotted properly...hence, it's best to have this done by a qualified repair technician...we only charge 30.00-60.00 to do a left-handed conversion (depending on the work involved)...you should find someone to do this within the same price range...

best of luck, Mickey
