Acoustic Guitar: Cutaway Body Styles

I have just started playing guitar...i bought a Ovation guitar...It is not cutaway tho its sound is really good s friend of mine who has been playing guitar since 11 years told me its a good one...Im confused...Shall i sell it and buy a cutaway guitar or use it because it has been a month i bought it and if i sell it, it wont make tht much as the shopkeeper said they'l give me maximum 50% of the price...So what should i do? Is a non-cutaway guitar okay?

I'm not sure why you would feel a non-cutaway would not work...I personally learned to play on a non-cutaway...and today, out of the 4 guitars I currently own, none are cutaways. I have never really felt that it limits what I can do above the 12th fret...sure, if you're used to playing electric guitar, you might miss the upper register...as an acoustic artist, you really wouldn't miss this register...therefore, my suggestion would be to continue playing your Ovation and not concern yourself about the upper reaches of the neck...which usually takes a beginner a few years to even find themselves at the ability to even play above the 12th fret...

Hope this helps, Mickey
