Subject: Re: Looking for the right lessons.
After seeing his friend with an electric guitar, my 8 year old son wanted one. My wife promised him a guitar if he past his TASP test and did good in school. My 5 year old daughter didn't want to be left out so my wife promised the her a musical instrument if she did good in school too. Not wanting to be left out, I always wanted to learn some type of musical instrument.
Cutting to the chase, I purchased my son a student acoustic guitar. My daughter a mandolin and myself a 6-string banjo as I didn't know anything about musical instruments or the difference between 4-string, 5-string or 6-string banjo.
None of us have ever played anything. I am looking for a VHS video(s) which might help us all learn to play our instruments. Any suggestions?
Jeff
Greetings Jeff,
Glad to assist:
The only 6-String banjo instructional video out, that we know of to date, would be "Introduction to the 6 & 12-String Banjo"...
We also carry beginning Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin videos...our videos focus on the methodology of playing...which lays down a foundation to learn as opposed learning one song after another...my suggestion, for you to learn 6-string banjo, would be to start out with our "Introduction to the Acoustic Guitar" and then move on to the "Introduction to the 6 & 12-String Banjo"....the 6-string banjo video is intermediate to advanced level...we also have another beginner guitar video that covers the approach to learning philosophically...by Tradd Tidwell...
Our videos can be found at:
http://www.elderlyinstruments.com type "Mickey Cochran" or "Tradd Tidwell" in their search field...
or at http://www.folkofthewood.com/page645.htm
Hope this helps...remember, we also provide a full support system for your learning efforts...you may ask us any technical questions you'd like by e-mail...check out our free online lessons at: http://www.folkofthewood.com/page3.htm
