Acoustic Guitar: Pick-Up Problems

Subject: help
Date: Sun, 28 Mar 2004 17:04:33 +1000

Hi,

Greetings George,

I have just purchased a legend jumbo acoustic guitar with a shadow pre-amp pick up shadow sh4 i think it is.
The problem i am experiencing is that when i plug my legend into my acoustic amplifier which is lined into a peavey pa system i get an incredible amount of feedback .i have tweaked it a heap but it means me having to make some significant adjustments in the brilliance and the bass settings to reduce the amount of feedback. The legend is areplica not the famouss legends made in usa but made for aussie conditions.Could it be the guitar AS i HAVE ONLY READ AND HEARD GOOD STUFF ABOUT THE SHADOW PICK UP.

Sounds like it would be a problem with the pick-up...somehow, the signal is overloading...this wouldn't be due to the guitar at all...it could be a line problem (the soldering or the jack) or it could be a defective pick-up system...if you just purchased this guitar, my suggestion would be to take advantage of its warranty and have it properly replaced or repaired...be sure to make sure the problem does not lay with the PA System...try other acoustic/electric guitars to see if the problem recurs...if not, then it is the electronics on your Legend...

Mickey

You advise would be great.
cheers,
George.
