Violin/Fiddle: Buying Tips

Subject: Fiddle Question

Hello,
I am interested in playing the fiddle and was wondering if you had any suggestions as to what type to purchase. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money, espeically since I've never played. I've thought about buying a violin off of ebay, they are around $60, what do you think? Thanks for the help!

My suggestion would be to buy locally...find your local music store so that they can set it up and offer you some type of warranty...buying sight unseen off eBay will be shooting in the dark...no guarantees, no warranties, no set-up, and so on...unless you can find an eBay seller that offers all of the above...and is reputable based on their response system...This also holds true for any mail order based violin reseller and for online resellers. You'll want to do your research and make sure that you're buying more than just the violin itself...you want to make sure that set-up, warranty and support comes along with your new violin all for the price quoted. Yes, you're right, there are many inexpensive options...only, they can be expensive in the long run.

Best of luck to you in your research...and be sure to check out our free fiddle lessons linked from below...Mickey
