Hammer-Ons: In Measure 12, you'll notice the symbol "H"...this means that the note is not picked but hammered on...creating what is called a "slur note"...the second note, right after the "H", is not picked...but hammered by the index finger...you pick the D String open, then bring your index finger down directly on the same string which creates a note by itself without having to pick it. This is a common technique used on most acoustic instruments and is addressed as "Hammering On".
