Violin Beginner Melodies "Ode to Joy" (Key of G)

Bow Strokes: When first learning this melody, try using nothing but alternating bow strokes...keep your timing even...the arrangement below consists of nothing but the skeletal frame of the melody. After learning this base melody, with alternating bow strokes, then try adding one bow stroke for the first two notes, followed by another one stroke for the following two notes...and then repeating this pattern throughout...this is called slurring the notes and gives the tune more of a lilting sound. Experiment with different types of bow strokes seeing how you can make this tune more rhythmically interesting.
