October thru December 2003 Who Am I? A total of 8 clues were given as follows:
Contest Solution 1 Who Am I? Answer: "Eddie Adcock"

Following are the original clues for this contest:

Eddie Adcock
Clue #1: I have always been a "cutting edge" banjo player.
Eddie Adcock was always one who "pushed the envelope" in both banjo technique and innovative banjo construction.
Clue #2: I was born in 1938 in Scottsville, VA.
Adcock's first instrument was guitar at age seven...eventually he took up mandolin...and, ultimately, he filled the highest demand in bluegrass bands at the time by taking up banjo.
Clue #3: The first group I played with was the "James River Playboys".
...with his brother Frank in 1953. He played mandolin in this group and, at a later date, plectrum banjo.
Clue #4: I used to play tent shows with "Smokey Graves and the Blue Star Boys".
Adcock joined them in 1954 and bought his first Gibson RB-100 by selling a calf his mother had given him.
Clue #5: I collaborated alot with Don Reno...who had shown me my first 3-finger roll, taught me how to set up my banjo properly and converted me from plastic fingerpicks to metal.
In turn, Adcock had instructed Don Reno on the single-string style he was developing. Reno took the single-string approach to amazing lengths and eventually even had the style named after him: "Reno Style".
Clue #6: I joined up with Bill Monroe in 1957...
Adcock stated, "I worked on Bill's farm, too. When you worked with Bill, you worked at everything. We planted tobacco and all when I was with him. He was out there right along with us doing his part, too."
Clue #7: The band that kicked off my career was "The Country Gentlemen".
Adcock's 12-year stay with the Gentlemen was one of the key ingredient's to their mutual success...
Clue #8: I was once named "The Earl Scruggs of France".
Adcock's 5-string banjo recordings were the first heard by the French earning him this title...
