Your First Scale Studies (Key of D)

Following are studies in the key of D...these can be fairly advanced...so take your time in your efforts to learn these patterns. With these scale studies, you will be developing both your left and right hand dexterity. You will become far more proficient at learning new material or taking on any musical setting challenge.

The following scale study is on the D Bass String only. Usually this string is used for building chords or adding a drone harmony to the melody. It's still good to know where every note falls on all of your dulcimer strings. This study is a great way to familiarize yourself with the diatonic major scale as it applies to duclimer in the DAA tuning.
