There are two body styles, the O-Shape and the K-Shape, outfitted with either and oval soundhole or traditional f-holes. The playability of this mandolin is smooth as powdered snow on a pristine mountain top...I love the larger frets which seem to add to its smooth playability.

I received the Breedlove Spirit three days ago, and my mandolin world is forever changed. To begin, the neck is much wider than my previous, less-expensive, Korean-made model. This is a great feature. I feel like I am holding a fine piece of American craftsmanship in my hand: which I am when I hold my (Breedlove) Spirit. I was really surprised at how much louder the Spirit is, compared to my previous mandolin. In prior gigs, both bluegrass and alt. country, I struggled to make my mandolin heard. I don't think that will be a problem anymore. Plus, the Spirit has the pick-up system already installed, which will help with the alt. country band. My bandmates are duly impressed, and simply call me Breedlove now. I don't know if it's because I talk about it so much, or because it sounds so great. By the way, your crosspicking book is great. I think I wouldn't have seen the point on my last mandolin, but the Breedlove helps me understand the beauty of the difficult methods in your book. Just make sure you get that accompanying CD recorded. Thanks again for the great instrument, the polite service, and the fast two-day delivery.
