Subject: Tab for Hummingbird Train?

On the site, you say you will be posting the tab for Hummingbird Train. I'd like to add my vote for that - it's a great piece. Thanks.

Rob

Thanks for your positive input...It's well-noted and hopefully, I can start tabbing out all of my fingerstyle arrangements soon...with "Hummingbird Train" at the top of the list...

We have a large free lessons section...and, I was hoping to include an entire section on fingerpicking guitar...from beginning to advanced...so, please stay tuned with this section of our website for updates...

Subject: Tabs available?
Date: Fri, 12 Dec 2003 18:17:52 -0500

Hey:

Greetings Cliff,

I just found you guys on the web. I've been playing through the video samplers and really liked the Breedlove RD 20 - Sampler number 4 of the Dadi tune. I noticed that you have his Mel Bay books but also this tune is arranged by the player. Are there tabs available for this arrangement?. Also, I do a lot of celtic and fidletunes but not much blues. Can you recommend a couple of good fingerstyle blues books.

Sorry, I haven't translated any of our arrangements...I've recently been arranging many standards to open tuning on acoustic guitar...and have had hopes of compiling a new book/CD effort...tunes such as "Wheels", "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", and "Both Sides Now" have been great fun to put together...I was raised on Kottke, Atkins and Dadi...

BTW, I play a Santa Cruz OM with Koa and a German Spruce top. Got it used at Mandolin Brothers - great place to try just about everything.

These are superb guitars...I've heard nothing but good...and, I understand that Dan Crary is an endorsee...that must mean something.

I'm not too bad at fingerstyle so this Dadi tune wouldn't be too tough, its just such a great sound especially the muted bass.

You might, at the very least, try purchasing another Dadi compilation that is immediately available...all of his tunes are well done and lots of fun to play...Mickey

Thanks much

Cliff Heitz

Hi, I stumbled across your web site...really great site and the instrument video samples are awesome! I watched the one for the Blueridge BR-180 Acoustic Guitar Sample #1. I love the melody of the song that he played. What song is he playing? Is it possible to buy the tablature for it from you?

Thanks, Ted

Greetings Ted,

I think it's a very nice compliment that you like my song.

I wrote that song when I worked playing music at a local coffee shop, called "Books and Beans". It was a coffee shop that sold books as well.

Any way the copy-written name of the song is "Romance in Italy".

This song will come out on CD within the year.

Eventually I will offer my music on tab.

As life would dictate, I'm far too busy at the moment, but I do plan on bringing this into existence.

Thanks again for the great compliment.

I'll do my best to help you out with song info.

Subject: BR-6S Vdeo Sampler Fingerpicking #2

Could you please tell me the name of the tune played in Video Sampler Fingerpicking #2 with the Blueridge BR-6S and where I can get the tablature?

Thanks

Walter Boles

Greetings Walter,

Notes: This is a song titled "Ragpickin" which was originally written and arranged by Richard Saslow. This piece can be found in the book titled: "The Art of Ragtime Guitar" by Richard Saslow...Originally Published by Green Note Music Publications ©1974...soon to be rereleased by Wisdom of the Wood.

Richard has been a tremendous influence on my taking up Ragtime Guitar. I've just recently purchased the domain: www.ragtimeguitar.com and hope to have a full info-based ragtime guitar site launched soon. Richard's contributions to Ragtime guitar will deserve an entire dedication page.

At your disposal, Mickey

Hi Mickey;

You have impressed me! I think many guitar stores would try to make the sale rather than tell me to stick with what I have. I have also heard that parlor guitars are hard to keep in tune which doesn't sound like a good thing for a beginner. I am going to take your advise and stick with the Seagull!

I would like to know which Marcel Dadi song you're playing in the BR-6S Fingerpicking #1 demo and which of the books it's in please. I probably won't be able to actually play it for a long time, but it's something to aspire to! I saw that what you're playing is your arrangement of his song - is yours much different from his?

Do you offer discounts on the entire Mel Bay catalog, or only those on your website? There are several books I would like to order.

Sincerely,

David LeBlanc

Greetings David:

Notes: This is a Marcel Dadi piece titled: "Song for Kathy"...it has quite a few counterpoint lines and demonstrates Dadi's influence from Chet Atkins...and, of course, I'm personally influenced heavily by Marcel and have studied his playing since I was a teenager. This arrangement is available through Mel Bay Publications: "Mel Bay Presents Marcel Dadi Fingerpicking Guitar Legend" Volume 2: Product Code: MB95115BCD Includes a CD Retails: 19.95

Volume 1: MB94851BCD 22.95 Retail

My arrangement is a direct mirror of the original...only with different accents and slightly different feel/tempo...

Yes, we offer 20% off Retail on most all Mel Bay titles...

Hope this helps, Mickey
