MICKEY.. HI, MY NAME IS HOVIE AND I OWN A LARK IN THE MORNING CUTAWAY
RESONATOR WITH A BISCUIT STYLE RESONATOR. I PLAY BLUES BUT I WANTED TO KNOW
IF THERE WAS A BETTER WAY TO IMPROVE THE SOUND BY CHANGING THE CONE OR
PUTTING A PICKUP IN IT. I KNOW THIS THING IS THE SAME AS A DEAN OR ROGUE BUT
FOR 100 BUCKS I DIDN'T GO WRONG, I JUST WANT TO MAKE IT BETTER.
THANKS...HOVIE NESTOR
Greetings Hovie,
Glad to assist if I can:
We've had the Lark in the Morning resos in on trade before...they appear to be of decent quality...especially as an entry level dobro at a reasonable cost...
Tonal improvements may be achieved by replacing the following:
1. Nut
2. Bridge Inserts with Ebony/Maple
3. Spider Assembly
4. Reso Cone with Quarterman
You'll want to check to see if the Bridge and Nut need replacing with higher grade materials...this may have already been performed...
The Quarterman cone is the ultimate upgrade for any import dobro...be sure to check out our video samplers that illustrate the difference: http://folkofthewood.com/page319.htm
Hope this helps, Mickey
