Deering Banjos fill the hottest selling "gap" in the market today with the exciting new Goodtime Special banjo. Based on the popular, best selling Goodtime and Goodtime 2 banjos, the maple neck and resonator banjo is now hand-fitted with the new "Goodtime Special Tone Ring," creating a tone and playability that rivals banjos costing 4 times more.

The banjo market has been hungry for an American made, quality banjo in the mid-price range that plays and adjust easily and has a responsive, bright, and crisp sound. "Customers don't mind spending the money for a mid-priced banjo, but generally don't want to buy an import in that price range..." says one Deering banjo dealer. "Goodtime Special" list price. One of America's number one pop music groups, the Dixie Chicks, are having a similar effect on the banjo that the Beatles had on the electric guitar. Since the Dixie Chicks feature a banjo prominently, the banjo is now being seen by millions around the world and young people are buying banjos to emulate their favorite artists.

The Goodtime Special banjo perfectly fills this demand for a hand made, better than entry level, mid-priced banjo from America's premiere banjo maker.

The Goodtime Special Banjo (with resonator) Video Samplers

It's priced at $618 (Deering Goodtime Special Open-Back) List and it's made in America. It can be taken to the beach, back packing (weighs approx 4 lbs+), camping or left out beside the easy chair to play for pleasure. It can go any place you wouldn't take an expensive banjo. It's made of maple, both the neck and the rim. This open-back banjo, with tone ring, has sixteen hooks and uses a standard 11" head. Unlike most lower priced banjos the Goodtime comes with a quality geared fifth tuner, as well as geared guitar tuners. It's well designed construction keeps the price at a minimum, and it plays in tune all the way up the neck clear to the 22nd fret. The sound is pleasant enough that fewer beginners will get kicked out of the house when they practice.

GOODTIME SPECIAL OPENBACK JOINS DEERING BANJO LINE-UP

Deering Banjo Company continues to add to the versatility of our banjo line by introducing the Goodtime Special Openback model to the already exciting line of Goodtime Banjos. Created in response to customer requests, this rock-maple banjo has the same bright, crisp sound and ease of playability you have come to expect of our Goodtime banjos with the added power, sustain, and ring that comes with the addition of an 1/8" thick steel, bluegrass style tone ring. Our old-timey banjoists at any level of expertise will love the openback feature giving the banjo the same sweetness of the Goodtime and Goodtime 2 but with the added bell-like "ping" that you would expect of more expensive models. The Goodtime Special Openback currently retails for only $479! The Goodtime Banjos are noted for their light weight and portability, making them ideal for traveling or camping. Professional musicians like Dan Garrett and Dan Levenson have already recorded CDs with our Goodtime Openback and Goodtime Resonator 2 models. The addition of the Goodtime Openback Special gives the beginner, intermediate, and experienced banjoist an American-made, better-than-entry-level banjo to meet their needs.

Date: Thu, 21 Oct 1999 Hi Everybody! Just wanted to take a minute to thank you for all your support and good wishes while I was making my decision to purchase my Deering Goodtime Banjo. I've had it for about a month or so now and "I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!" It's fits me very well, it's small and light and it sounds fabulous! Even my teacher can't help but comment at every lesson, how nice it sounds. He's very impressed with the quality. I love playing it. It has already become a close and dear friend. I look forward to many, many years of playing my Goodtime banjo and hopefully someday, with a little luck and a lot of hard work, I'll play well enough to complement its good looks and sound. Just had to share my joy. Thanks again for everything. Sincerely, Linda S. Maki
