Subject: just 1 question

Hi Mickey,

i'm happy to announce to you a website for the Octave Mandolin in French and English.

I put your links on some pages and specially for the free acoustic lesson.;-)

I hope it didn't annoying you ?

http://cbom.free.fr

My question, is ths : i like on the video octaves mandolin samplers, the tune of
the Weber Absaroka #3

I want to learn it, but i don't know how. You play to fast and too far for my
eyes. Have you got a tab or anything about this tune, which can help me
?http://www.folkofthewood.com/page2528.htm

it's just for me, no commercial objective.

Thank you

Jonathan TILLY

Greetings Jonathan,

Thanks for linking to us from your site...you're more than welcome to use anything you'd like to from our site...for instance, you might want to include our Octave Mando chord charts that are pdf...and can be downloaded directly from your site...

I've linked back to your site from our "Other Sites of Interest"...

Keep up the good work...Mickey

Yes, believe it or not, this piece started out as an improvisation on camera...and, it seemed to take form into a completed composition. Currently, there isn't a tab on this...however, it is a good idea...and maybe I should go through some of my video samplers for the octave and include them as tabs on our octave instructional section. It would be a larger undertaking...well worth the effort though...

A lot of this piece relies on crosspicking technique...you might check through some of these patterns available on our lessons page...

Thanks so much for the good idea...a matter of time to transcribe to tab...Mickey

Subject: Songs in the video samplers

Hey, I was wondering, what songs are you playing in
these two video samplers:

Trinity College TM-325 Octave Mandolin Second Series
New Mic

Trinity College Octave #2
Trinity College Octave #4

Thank you for the info

-Dave

Greetings Dave,

Thanks for your interest...

#2 is Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring...as you can hear, I've extended the arrangement...and there are some Leo Kottke influences...lots of crosspicking

#4 is one of my own originals...there again, lots of crosspicking...I love crosspicking!!!

Let me know if I can ever assist further...Mickey

Subject: Video Sampler Question

Hi Mickey!

I had taken a vow of silence for at least two weeks, but now I have to
break it :))

Actually, the video sampler I'm referring to is the one at:

http://www.folkofthewood.com/page532.htm

And I hope that you tell me it's on the "Intro to Octave Mandolin"
tape. That is one awsome piece of music!

Thanks again!

Garry

Greetings Garry,

Yeah! I know which piece you're referring to: "The Battle of Rivendell"...I wrote this piece in 1990...It's one of my personal favorites...and, it just so happens to also be showcased on the "Intro to the Octave Mando" video...because of the limited time frame, the piece wasn't broken down to be taught...it was aired on the video with the hopes that others would take an interest in fingerpicking mandolin...

Here's the Chapter it's located in:

Chapter VII: New Dimensions In Octave Mandolin
A. "The Battle of Rivendell" B. "The Amber Hills of Moria"
Thanks for your avid support of my fingerpicking mando efforts...Mickey
