Subject: 1/2 or 1/4 size bass ??
Date: Mon, 1 Mar 2004 23:47:33 -0800

Hi Mickey,

I am interested in buying a half or quarter size bass for folk and
celtic and bluegrass music. I don't want to hassle with a real big
instrument. Can you show me scale pics of full size , half, size,
and 1/4 size? How heavy are they?
I live in Mammoth Lakes Ca

Thanks Gerry Feher

Subject: Questions regarding Cremona Basses
Date: Fri, 12 Dec 2003 04:55:21 -0900

Hi,

I've been playing in an old-timey band for two years now and am in the market for a bass. Don't know much about strings except that good instruments cost plenty, but if these Cremonas are as good as the comments I've been reading, they might just be the ticket. My main instrument is keyboards. I play jazz and other things and have a home recording studio. I'd probably want to record some acoustic bass lines at some point. Do you think the Cremona would fill the bill? Is there a significant bump in quality/sound between the SB-1 and SB-3?

And here's the biggy . . . I live in Talkeetna, Alaska. Can you ship it here? Also, does it come with strings?

Thanks,
Murray Nash

Greetings Murray,

Yes...most string basses are prohibitive in cost...however, the Cremona offers a nice compromise...no, they're not solo level orchestra basses...even so, they offer one of the best values in the industry.

Between the SB-1, SB-2 and SB-3 you will not find much tonal variances...albeit, maybe a subtle one. My preference is the Ebony fingerboard...this can be one of the most critical features of a string bass. Hence, my suggestion would be the SB-2...the flamed maple is nice but only aesthetically.

Shipping to Alaska...such a big instrument...would be cost prohibitive...they cannot be shipped by any regular carrier service...they have to be contracted with a trucking firm. If you have a friend in the states that would be coming up to visit you, my suggestion would be to ship it to him or her first. If you have an alternative source for shipping, let us know...

Mickey

Subject: Cremona SB-2 Bass

Good Day!

I am interested in the Cremona Bass' and was looking at the photos on your site. I noted that the graphic for the SB-2 bass is linked to the SB-1 graphic. Do both bass' look alike, or was this an oversight? Please let me know when the graphic changes, if needed.

BTW, I found your site today. VERY nice!

Thanks for your time

Brian S.

Greetings Brian,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention...however, the SB-2 is the SB-1 with an Ebony neck...hence the pictures are the same. So you're right with your estimate of: "Do both bass' look alike, or was this an oversight?"

Thanks for the kind words regarding our website!

Let us know how we might further assist you...FOTW
