Deering States:

Exquisite craftsmanship and functional elegance are combined to create the G.D.L. banjo. As on the Ivanhoe, patience and care go into cutting the many strips of multicolored abalone shell which are inlaid beside the ivoroid binding, trimming the figured walnut neck and burl walnut resonator. Intricate abalone and mother-of-pearl inlays adorn the ebony fingerboard and peghead. As on the Ivanhoe, the peghead is bound with white/black/white stripes on the face and side, we call this triple bound.

The G.D.L. features the same tone-ring and flange construction as the Ivanhoe, however all metal parts are nickel plated. One popular option of the exotic maple neck and burl maple resonator with either a blond or a cremona sunburst finish.

The G.D.L. draws admiration for its vibrant beauty as well as the superior sound quality. It's an investment you'll be glad you made every time you play it.

* Deering was the first to use a zinc flange, to re-create the sound that was once only available from pre-war banjos. The zinc flange is a feature on all models from the Sierra to the top of the line.
