Hi,Mickey, what is the difference between the Triolians and Dobros? Thanks, Rod

Greetings,

Triolians:
1. Have a Biscuit Type Cone...these are smaller than the Dobro-style cones and have a nasal sound which lends them well to the blues...

2. Dobros have a traditional spider type cone...larger than the Biscuit type with less of a nasal tone...great for volume, fullness of tone and bluegrass styles.

1. A Triolian will have a smaller body and are very common in the Delta Blues idiom...

2. Dobros are larger in body size to the Triolian...

1. A Triolian is always a roundneck...they do not come in a squareneck configuration.

2. Dobros come in both roundneck and squareneck configurations...A roundneck is played guitar style while a squareneck is always played on the lap facing up.

1. A Triolian may be referred to as a Dobro in that it does have a resophonic cone system...even so, it's a particular style of Dobro with a Biscuit Cone system and a smaller body size...

2. Dobros themselves are usually referenced as full-size guitars with larger resophonic cone systems...Dobro® is currently a trademark name owned by Gibson Musical Instruments...to refer to the Dobro instrument, the generic terms are "resophonic" and "resonator" guitars.

Hope the above helps...Mickey
