Subject: Thanks..
Hey I never took the time to thank y'all for your wonderful service. I ordered a Deering Calico banjo and received it a couple of months ago. I played my very first festival with it and I'd like to thank you for making it such a special night for me. I know I bugged y'all for more than two weeks with calls about its whereabouts and how much it had to be ready and you were very patient with me. Keep Pickin'
Jay--Alabama.

attractive too. she arrived set up perfectly, of course, and I had absolutely

Mickey: Thanks for this great website. I just purchased a fiddle and was searching the web to see how to tune it! Found your beginner instructions pages and I'm off to work to learn how to play this new instrument. I play piano, guitar, harmonica, flute and hopefully one day the fiddle. +B+B+

Bryan:
Wow!
Thanks for such an excellent response.
You seem to understand how us gigging guys can never quite afford the fancy instruments!
Your advise is just what I was looking for (just don't tell my wife, yet).
Thanks again, Bill

Subject: Got my order!

Dear FOTW,
Got my Cremona SV-320 today. The setup is great. The sound is very good. The instrument looks great. There were, however a few small scratches around the tailpiece, but I can live with it.
A few questions - in comparing it to my Palantino 450, how do you get the action so nice on the Cremona? It is much lower and easier to play than the Palantino. I'd like to be able to setup the Pal a little better. Also, what's the differences between boxwood & ebony?
Thanks for your pleasant service in changing the shipping address to my work. It help a lot, and you guys are very prompt in answering your . I just ordered a few books and accessories. I guess you've got yourselves another fan!
Keep up the good work.

As a former law partner use to say "no good deed goes
unpunished"!
I think what FOTW offers is an incredible opportunity
to purchase, grow with, and experience acoustic
instruments. Additionally, I've found nothing to
compare to FOTW web site. You must spend significant
time and money developing and maintaining your site.
I appreciate the service you provide.

Subject: Marty's JD Dobro Testimonial..............
Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2001 17:03:38 -0400
Thank you all at Folk of the Wood for making the purchase of my new Gibson Jerry Douglas model Dobro
such a great experience! You really made it special by enjoying the event along with me. From the original
purchase of my Regal RD-45 to my trade up to the Gibson, you were there with me enjoying my journey
to an awesome Dobro.
There was no opportunity for me to shop for a Dobro locally. It seems music stores only want to sell guitars
and have no interest in offering folk and bluegrass instruments. From time to time I might see a mandolin or banjo hanging
forgotten on some music shop's wall, but never a Dobro. Your Video Samplers and 100% guarantee gave
me the confidence to purchase an instrument sight-unseen. I have no doubt that we will do business again.
As far as the Gibson Jerry Douglas Dobro......it is fantastic. It has a voice that is often more moving than the
song I'm trying to play. Thanks again for being so cool. I'll stop by next time I'm in New Mexico!
Best regards,
Marty
Subject: Good news

Hi Mickey
Very good news!
The guitar I ordered (Johnson Resonator Guitar) has arrived today (18th october 2001).
Everything is OK.
My compliments to your staff. Everything was packed professionally.
Thanks for everything. I'll recommend "Folk of the Wood" to my friends if they need something.
I still have one question: if I ever want to amplify the sound, which transducer do I use? I have a BAD experience with the Shadow SH 2500E
Is it possible to place a flat transducer underneath the strings? Which one?

Subject: <Gold Tone OB250+>
Hi Mickey:
Hope everything is going well. I received the banjo
in good shape and I think it was well worth the wait.
It certainly sounds good to me. I guess there are
reasons to spend thousands of dollars more, but I
would think a long time before doing so after getting
this particular instrument. Please pass this along
to Bryan and I appreciate his help.
I am going to send the warranty registration to Gold
Tone and it asks for the Serial Number for the banjo
and I don't see it on the instrument. Where is it located? I am surprised that there wasn't some paperwork
with the banjo that gave the model number and the
serial number. I certainly appreciate your getting this
information to me.
We will be seeing Ralph Stanley on Thursday night and
we are really looking forward to this. We saw him do
Little Birdie solo at a recent concert, what fingers
and hands on a seventy-five year old man playing a
banjo!!
Best Wishes,
Sid Hawkins

Subject: Johnson O/M
Hey Mickey! What can I say about the Johnson Octave Mandolin that you
don't already know? It's everything you told me it would be. The deeper
body depth gives it a wonderful resonance and the tone of it is clear
and sweet like you said. Great acoustic volume and not overbearing...I
love it...it's a close second favorite to my Weber Absaroka O/M. It's
real cute to look at, too. But I can't say enough about the tone of
this remarkably affordable instrument. Very warm, rosy, with great
sustain. The action was perfect! You folks do great set-ups! I love the
neck. It is a welcome addition to my instrument family and one that I
ain't gonna part with! Thanks again for your advice and instrument
savvy! You really do know your stuff! Russell

Subject: banjo purchase
Dear Mickey,
If you'll recall, our dealings started about one year ago when we made arrangements for a trade of my Deering banjo for a new Golden Era. It took nearly six months to complete the transfer with all the mailing back and forth and so on. At any rate I received the instrument and immediately fell in love with it but I resisted the urge to tell any one how I felt until I was properly acquainted with the G. E. and could tell with authority what I truly thought.
It's been another six more months now and we have traveled to a couple of festivals together and have bonded rather well. I've received many unsolicited comments from jamming friends after a couple of songs. They usually give it a long look and tell me how good it sounds. I just eat that up because I just started playing the banjo two and a half years ago , so you know it's nothing spectacular I'm doing.
I only wanted to tell you that it was a lot of money to invest in an instrument and honestly, I was scared it might not meet the expectations I had. But tonight as I took the banjo from it's case, the maple neck reflected the lamplight, and I slung the strap over my shoulder and took hold of the neck and I realized that I can now say, without reservation, this is one of the few times in my life when the item I've paid a substantial amount of money for has turned out to be more than I could've imagined.
You should stick with these folks at Deering since it's evident they are well in touch with a business principle I haven't seen in a long time; quality that equals price.
Very Sincerely,
Kenny Bottoms
