Gold Tone has taken their celebrated OB-250 and improved it dramatically by adding many unique features reserved for only the highest-quality banjos. Upgraded features include the JLS tone ring, 3-ply maple rim, coordinator rod adjuster, Brian Cooper Intonated Custom Bridge, a raised neck to body mount, and a deluxe case.
The JLS Tone Ring is a replica of the Gibson tone ring used in the Granada models in the 30s. The maker, from Texas, has analyzed an original tone ring and duplicated the exact specifications. When electronically tested for pitch, sustain, and ring, it equals the original. It also has a slightly longer skirt which (1) provides more contact with wood rim and (2) provides direct contact with the heel of the neck. The neck is attached with a conventional hanger bolt going through a hole at the edge of the tone ring. This method provides an extremely tight fit and maximum heel contact with tone ring.
- Specifications Tone Ring: JLS Tone Ring
- Rim: 3 Ply Maple: Used on most professional banjos, has less glue for better tone than a multi- ply rim
- Coordinator Rod Adjuster: A simple barrel style nut is attached to the outer coordinator rod which can be easily adjusted for slight string action adjustments
- Brian Cooper Intonated Custom Bridge: The maple on this bridge is quality select and has aged for at least 100 years
Brian, from Tennesee, sets up many professional Nashville banjos.
- Neck to Body Mount: The neck is raised slightly higher on the banjo body. This provides a wider space between head and strings when picking close to fingerboard for comfort and eliminates the picks from striking the head.
- Deluxe Case: Includes TKL Deluxe arched top case with plush velour padding, lock, padded handle and perfect fit
- Nut adjustment: Grooves are cut 1 to 2 thickness of string which prevents string binding and will provide better use of Keith style tuners.
- Tuners: 5 Star Planetary
- Neck: Maple
- Tension Hoop: Nickel-plated brass, for more sustain
- Tailpiece: Straight Line Tailpiece
- Truss Rod: Square two way adjustable
- Fingerboard: Ebony with MOP hearts and flower inlay
- Resonator: Maple (includes flame maple veneer in two tone sunburst)
- One Piece Die Cast Flange
- Curly maple headstock veneer with MOP inlay

Testimonials:
Subject: New Gold Tone Banjo
Dear Mickey,
I received my new Gold Tone Banjo[OB250+ last week and I am extremely pleased. Not only does it have better sustain than my BG 250F it also just has a better "ring" to its sound.
In addition to being very happy with my banjo I just wanted to let you know that during the two purchases I have made with FOTW the staff have been extremely courteous and helpful.
At present, I think that my present banjo will meet my banjo playing needs for quite a while. If I have a change of heart and decide to move up again [the Wildwood Paragon makes me crazy! please be assured that I will definitely call FOTW.
Thank You, Charlie Pyatt
Subject: I just got my GT OB250+ !
Hi,
I just got my Gold Tone 250+ Natural from you guys yesterday and I am very happy. It is a beautiful instrument, heavy as a son-of-a-gun and the FOTW circle strap I bought with it makes it comfortable to wear.
Your sales staff was great and they made spending my money effortless, thank you!
Thanks,
Larry Czarkowski

Hi Mickey:
Hope everything is going well. I received the banjo in good shape and I think it was well worth the wait. It certainly sounds good to me. I guess there are reasons to spend thousands of dollars more, but I would think a long time before doing so after getting this particular instrument. Please pass this along to Bryan and I appreciate his help.
I am going to send the warranty registration to Gold Tone and it asks for the Serial Number for the banjo and I don't see it on the instrument. Where is it lo-cated? I am surprised that there wasn't some paperwork with the banjo that gave the model number and the serial number. I certainly appreciate your getting this information to me.
We will be seeing Ralph Stanley on Thursday night and we are really looking forward to this. We saw him do Little Birdie solo at a recent concert, what fingers and hands on a seventy-five year old man playing a banjo!! Best Wishes, S. Hawkins
