3. Quarterman Cones QC-1 FOLK OF THE WOOD NO LONGER SELLS QUARTERMAN CONES

1928 Patent design 10 9/16" dia. original Quarterman cone. This cone is the one used by all the big name players today. Offers a loud bell-like tone and a very balanced sound. Use with spider bridge. This cone is 1/16" larger in dia. than a standard Dobro® and your guiter may need to b routed out to fit properly.

John Quarterman worked for O.M.I. (Original Musical Instrument Co. makers of the original Dobro) from 1970 to 1975. Quarterman learned to make resonators from John Dopyera, the inventor of the resonator guitar, while working there. Quarterment decided to produce his own resonator after realizing the resonators that Dobro was using in the 1960s and 70s would not hold up over time. After extensive experimentation, John Quarterman produced a resonator with the original shape of the first 1928 cone and a special aluminum alloy that would produce a bell-like tone but would have stronger physical properties. In the fall of 1972, Quarterman founded the J.P. Quarter & Co. and started spinning the "Quarterman Cone" for many of the top resonator guitar manufacturers. John Quarterman hand spins each resonator and the "Quarterman Cone" still used by all of the top custom builders and players today.

Subject: Regal purchase follow up...

Mickey,

I just wanted to shoot you a quick follow up of my experiences since I've owned my Regal RD-45 with the QC upgrade purchased from your shop. For any of your customers who are considering this instrument and are not sure if they should get the conversion.....DO IT! I bought it in December and have owned it for 3 months now. I've played several area bluegrass jams with other more experienced dobro players in the room playing older and more expensive Gibsons and my Regal cuts above the room in volume and brilliance of tone and I have received many compliments with people asking me what kind I was playing. You can't beat the tone of this instrument for the price. I really enjoy playing it. It sits out on a stand so I can grab it whenever possible.
Keep up the good work!

D. Nowakowski
