From Our Wood-Wise Following
Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 Thank you very much, I have just received my guitar. It is a beauty I am so happy with it, it sounds amazing...... :) Have fun, Mehdi Rafi
Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 My daughter just gave me my new Fender 5-string bluegrass banjo for my 70th birthday today, and your online lessons ARE SAVING MY DAY! She also bought me Earl Scruggs book, but I do FAR BETTER with your lessons. Thank you very much! Dr. Gene Neill
Date: Fri, 23 Feb 2001 Hi Bryan, Just thought I would drop you a quick note to say that I am very happy about the Kentucky 250S. I am spending some time with it and it is great. Playing the fiddle and guitar makes it somewhat easier, but what a great contribution to the band it can make. The action is good and I am impressed. Friends here in Australia keep asking why I ordered a mandolin all the way from the USA - well they know why now. Anyway, I have just sent an order through your web site for some instructional material. It is still cheaper to purchase from you folk in the USA then purchasing here where I live (even with the exchange rate). So, thanks again, you have one happy customer. Feel free to share this recommendation with anyone. Cheers, Rick Ferret
Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 Hi Brian -I take back all the mean things I said about you - this mandolin (Kentucky KM-380S) is really great. It's set up perfectly right out of the box, and sounds very, very nice for an imported instrument.
Honestly, I never blamed you; i know about shipping issues, but I get very annoyed when mistakes happen because of someone's carelessness. I know you did all you could on your end. (and you're still out a box of mandolins!)
Thanks for your help and advice - I'll be back (expecting a great deal, of course). God's Peace, Bill Ward
Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 Hello Bryan, This is Paul William Meyer. I had won this guitar from your Ebay auction some time back and never really got around to leaving you feedback. I'm doing so now. And I'd like to thank you for the instrument. Everyone there was very helpful. Especially with shipping. Thanks in advance for any help you could give me.
Date: Tue, 20 Feb 2001 I just received my Kentucky KM-150S mandolin today. I love it! It came in great shape, it was all tuned and it plays beautifully. I'm also really happy with the service I've received from you guys. Your 500% policy is really cool. Thanks so much and I'll definately do business with you again some time soon! Paul Vaughan
Date: Wed, Feb 14, 2001 Hi there ! Just want to let you know that my Dobro has arrived safe and sound. Thanks for sorting that out. I am very happy with the instrument, it sounds great and I am having a lot of fun with it. I might drop by if I am ever over in your part of the world.
Cheers, Christopher Stevens
Date: Thu, 1 Feb 2001 Just wanted to let you know that my new SV-320 arrived today, and I have been playing it for several hours. The workmanship is precise and the overall look is great. The sound far out does my old Meisel student model. I look forward to using the fiddle with our band now. I have been self-teaching for the last year and now with the new a vastly better sounding instrument I am ready to debut my fiddle tunes. I have been singing, playing guitar, pedal steel and harmonica for a whole lot of years. Having another instrument to enjoy will be great. Thank you very much. As my skills continue to improve, I'll be ready next year to take advantage of your great trade-up policy. Thanks,Don Otego, NY
Date: Wed, 14 Feb 2001 Thanks...ya'll have outstanding customer service...recieved the M-11 mando on monday the 12th...it was even in pretty good tune. The Mid-Missouri M-11 is exactly what I've needed for some of the music we've been playing. Hopefully next month I'll be able to make the next purchase of a Weber Bitteroot mandolin...again thanks for the great service...John
Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2001 Mickey, I recently ordered and received from Folk of the Wood a Regal Dobro Bass. I ordered the black finish (exclusively available through FOTW) and had the shadow transducer pickup installed. Thank you for your very prompt service. My bass was mailed the same day I ordered it and I received it in two days (not including Sunday, no mail). I am very pleased with the bass and your reports and testimonials of its acoustic tone and volume were very accurate. Truth in advertising. Imagine that. My biggest concern may be knowing where it is since my son also plays bass and has found uses for it in acoustic settings. He commented that he wants to get the same tonal quality from the higher end from his Fender P. Thank Suzie for me for promptly sending me the information on the shadow pick up, which brings me to my question. I didn't want an electric sound, so I didn't order the lipstick magnetic pickup. I'm getting alot of "string noise, finger noise" from the pickup which detracts from the otherwise wonderful tonal quality of the resonator. Can you recommend a solution to this or is this a trade off for the resonators natural volume? Could refining the placement of the pickup help? Thanks again. Dennis Stofer
Date: Sat, 10 Feb 2001 Dear mickey, I was in your store this week and bought a cremona SV-150. i just want to say thanks to brian. i was never pressured to buy anything. if he didnt have an answer to my questions he told me he didn't know but would find out and he had an answer for me the next day. he also set up some fiddles and let me try them so i can decide for myself. i appreciated the way your staff went out of the way to help me. lyn

Mickey, good deeds deserve appreciation. the comando
list is "the mandolin" list
thanks for the service, mike mcmanus
In September in bought my first mandolin from Mickey at Folk of the Wood-a Kentucky KM-350. Last week i had tuning problems and just noticed the rosewood bridge was cracked. I called FOW this morning and they said they would put a new bridge in the mail today. I inquired if i needed to send the old bridge first as proof of damage and the reply was no, in fact FOTW did not need the damaged bridge they accepted my word. I ordered a new set of strings and when i started to give my credit card #, they said "oh we'll not charge for the strings, but just add it with the new bridge." I'm sure there are other mail order operations that also give great service, but i wanted to pass my appreciation for FOTW service to others that may be interested.
Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2001 Mickey, Great site for beginners!..........my 8 year old daughter Cheyenne is just starting out and we found your site wonderful, Thanks, Troy & Cheyenne Robinson, AL
Date: Tue, 30 Jan 2001 Hi Bryan, Just to let you know that the Weber mandola arrived safely and what a
beautiful instrument it is! Thanks for all your help and for giving me a great deal. The strings that are on it are, I presume, the same as the 5 sets of strings you sent with it. They seem thicker than the ones that I used to use. Are thinner sets available, or can you suggest a way I could make up my own set? Best wishes, Morgan Fisher
Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2001 12:13:16 -0800 (PST) I'll take the opportunity to also sing the praises of FOTW
service. Mickey will go WAY out of his way to make you happy, every time. Thier trade-in policy is unbeatable, too. No financial interest, blah, blah, blah... just rare and exceptional service that needs to be pointed out. Scott
Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2001 Dear Folk of the Wood, The octave mandolin arrived fast, and in great shape. It has a beautiful voice, and the Shadow pick-up you installed is great! Thank you so much for all your help with it. Sincerely, Pat Gislason
Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2001 Hello Bryan, I did receive the Kentucky 150s mandolin from your store yesterday, Jan 23. I was out of town last week and on the way home i found a new 150s at a music store in Rolla, MO. It was only 10.00 more than your price and i wasn't sure when you all would have one in stock so i bought it. Now i have the one you sent and i see what you mean by being properly set up. the one in rolla was taken off the rack, put in a bag and i bought it. Yours frets much easier and it might be my imagination but i think it sounds better. The mandolin is for my grandson and I am going to keep the one you sent and give to him. So cancel the cancel I guess you could say.
By the way, would you be interested in a trade. a new 150s mandolin towards a guitar or banjo?
Date: Tue, 23 Jan 2001 Hey, y'all, just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with the KM630 I ordered. I work out of my home and it's been hard to get anything done since it arrived. I just can't keep my hands off it. The sound is excellent and the action is superb. Everything you told me to expect and more. I thought I'd have to spend a bunch more for a decent F-style, but fortunately that wasn't the case. I also want to commend you on your service and working with me the way you did to help me make a decision. I'm definitely recommending y'all to my friends. Ya got one very pleased customer here. Sincerely, Michael Healer
Date: Mon, 22 Jan 2001 Hi Bryan - Just wanted to let you know that I received the Gold Tone OB-250 banjo in tip top shape and love it! Am looking forward to getting the case now. Thanks again for all your help - Alan K
Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 Howdy, I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you for the quick response that you folks did once I ordered my KM-250S mandolin. It got hear really fast and all in one piece. It was set up very nicely and easy to play. This is my first mandolin and I believe this was a great choice for me. It has great tone and to my surprise it is a lot louder than I thought it would be as I was wondering about amplification before I received it but now I really don't think I'll need to. The quality of the instrument for the price I paid was more than I had hoped for. Again thanks for your great service. John Turner
Date: Fri, 19 Jan 2001 Hey, Bryan! Received the bass today. Looks and sounds great! Thanks for the good buying experience! Don
Date: Fri, 19 Jan 2001 Hi Bryan, Just a thanks for your promp service in replying and information. I did purchase a Banjo from a Deering Dealer in Edmonton. In fairness I just wanted to let you know because I was ready to make the purchase from Folk of the Wood but the Dealer in Edmonton was surprisingly able to match your price after factoring in insurance, shipping, dutie, etc. I do believe your company is the best I've seen on the net though because of your fast, friendly response and policies. If I need accessories you will definatly hear from me. Thanks, Doug Ritchie
Date: Wed, 17 Jan 2001 Dear Bryan, We received the guitar yesterday. We were on a trip for a week, so we couldn't get the guitar until then. Thank you very much for the nice guitar. My boyfriend loved it. We are going to buy a book to learn how to play the guitar. I am going to find a teacher to learn how to play the violin soon. We are very exited about starting something new. Thank you again. Mika Tanioka
Date: Thu, 11 Jan 2001 Mickey: I just wanted to thank you for the prompt service. I ordered a new Cremona SV 150 Violin on 1/05 Friday morning and I got it in the mail on 1/09, it is a beautiful instrument. I also got the video Violin for Beginners, it is great for someone like me who has not played a violin before...it's everything to get started. Thank you very much, John
Date: Wed, 10 Jan 2001 Greetings. I suspected you were busy, so I called today and spoke with Bryan who answered all of my questions regarding Regal resonator guitars. You have great staff - very helpful and friendly. Now it's time to do the math of converting US$ to Canadian$ and making my decision. You offer fantastic service on every level. Thank you for caring about musicians and musicians-to-be. Bruce McLennan in Canada
