Subject: Triolian Resophonic Silver Finish
Dear Mickey:
Yes, I'm still interested in the Triolian. I'll contact you later on
Saturday or Monday (Go on. Take Sunday off) to complete the transaction.
Thanks for the permission to take Sunday off ;o)...even so, I usually answer emails throughout the day.
Having owned a National Steel I'm glad the Triolian isn't metal bodied.
Nubian slaves carrying Cleopatra around in a sedan chair couldn't have had to
contend with more weight than that National.
Very well put...we have metal bodied dobros also, and have found them relatively impractical to play standing up for long periods of time...they're really designed to be played while sitting. Now the Triolian is very lightweight and transportable...because of its parlor size body, it's even more portable than the average size guitar. Even though the body is smaller than a dreadnaught, it's usually louder than other full-size dobros due to the biscuit cone resophonic system.
I do have two questions, though. I'll preface them by saying that I plan to
use the resonator primarily as a slide blues instrument with occasional
standard tuning chord work. Having only played steel bodied resonators in
the past I have almost no experience with the wood bodied versions. All that
being said, will I have I have pretty much the same tonal quality and volume
on a Triolian as I would on a full bodied Regal? Also, my instrument of
choice for years has been a 12-string so I'm used to the fairly wide neck of
that and my old Guild D-25. Will I be totally tripped up by a really narrow
neck when I'm playing out of a standard tuning? Obviously I'm not too
worried about the neck width for slide.
Most definitely, the tone is fairly close since most of the tonal qualities originate from the resiphonic cone than from the rest of the body. Metal bodied dobros do have an added metallic quality.
Thanks for your quick reply to my previous note. I look forward to doing
business with you.
