The Saga Style III features a rim design inspired by the instruments of William Lange in the early 1900s and the banjos produced by the Ode Banjo Company in the 1960s. Saga introduced this unique flathead design in the late 1970s, incorporating a cast hard alloy rim with an integral, buttressed tone ring. The result is an amazing clarity of tone in all registers as well as the quick attack and rapid decay that pickers expect in a professional quality flathead banjo. The P-11 heavy-duty, grooved, tension hoop is machined from solid brass, polished, and triple nickel-plated. This design has stood the test of time, having been first used on the Mastertone Banjos of the Gibson Mandolin guitar Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The single piece armrest and old-style Waverly Tailpiece are also constructed of nickel-plated brass. The traditional double-cut headstock is fitted with four precise 4:1 ratio Saga Planetary Pegs for rapid, accurate tuning. An engraved fifth peg is a standard requirement. The neck and resonator are superbly crafted of mahogany. The fingerboard is East Indian Rosewood with mother-of-pearl position markers. The Saga Style III Banjo was designed for the advanced student or professional.

Further Notes on the Rim and Tone Ring: Integral Flat Head Tone Ring: Integral means that it's part of the rim...the rim and the tone ring are made out of cast hard aluminum alloy...the rim, cast hard aluminum alloy, is buttressed with its greatest point of integrity, the Flat Head Tone Ring, at where it meets the banjo head...

Testimonials:

Dear Mickey, Got the Saga Style III you suggested and the wife and I are VERY pleased. We both started learning with the video lesson tape and it won't be long before I am able to pick a song or two! Showed it to my daughter, who plays banjo some, and she turned green with envy. Thank you so much! Wish I had gotten the FOTW strap with it now. Regards, George Hubbell

I just got my new (Saga) style three banjo and am tickled pink !!! my boys can`t even watch T.V. ha ! ha ! I didn`t even know about your trade-up policy until after my purchase. just one more reason to spread the word huh! The folks at the post office said we had brightened their whole day...... so thanks from Tennessee ! Keep up the good work! Steve White Cleveland,Tn.

Received my banjo yesterday and everything was intact. Really like the way it sounds.....a lot different from the open back that I have. I want to thank you for your courteous service. If I need any extras, I will definitely order from you.....who knows....I could move up before long to a Stelling. Thanks again......and ROLL TIDE. Fred Johnson

My Fiance just got a Saga banjo from you for my christmas present. I love it! I am not a banjo expert but I haven't heard a banjo with that much resonance. Thank You. James C. Abbott

Hey Mickey, My Saga banjo came today, and its a lot of fun, I'm glad I got all those books to help me along. Have a great new year, and thanks for the great deal peace etc Don Thanks a bunch, John Hamner

Hi Mickey, Got the Saga Style III Banjo about 10AM on Friday. It was still in almost perfect tune (good packing job). This feels like a real nice banjo, a lot different than the piece of crap I had before. I am trying to learn to read music instead of tablature, I'll see how this works, and I'll let you know. Thanks for the great service and good advice on the banjo. regards, Rick
