"This is definitely the most effective banjo strap ever designed ..." |
The FOTW Circle Strap™ was designed by and for Folk of the Wood ... The "Circle Strap" has many upgraded features (from older banjo strap designs) including a more universal fit for most any banjo: Tenor, Plectrum, 6 & 12-String Banjitars, and of course both open-back and resonator 5-string banjos ... the name: "Circle Strap" was originated by Mickey Cochran and is exclusive to Folk of the Wood's product line. If you see it advertised elsewhere under this name, please be aware, we do not distribute this product, hence, the name is being used out of context and without permission and is probably a knock-off of the original.
Dimensions:
74" Long from end to end ...
1/2" Width on the tongue that weaves under the banjo tension hooks ...
2.5" Width on the strap itself that extends, after installation, from the tailpiece to the heel of the neck ...

The Banjo Circle Strap —
Easy to Install and Adjust: Weaves underneath the banjo through the tension hooks...and ties on the end. Once installed, it will last you a lifetime. Here's a slide show on installation. Adjusts for any height ... adjustment is only necessary when first installing the strap.
Added Security with No Stress on Banjo —
This strap will ensure that your banjo will not fall ... it's far more secure than the standard banjo strap that requires clipping your banjo onto a couple of tension hooks. And, it will not add the stress to single tension hooks that most straps do ...
Better Balance than Any Other Strap—
I've found the Circle Strap to balance the banjo more efficiently than I've found with most any other strap. It circles the banjo from the bottom and prevents the banjo from tipping forward or backward. And, it distributes the weight of the banjo evenly to minimize heavier banjos from weighing you down ... if you're standing for long periods of time, the Circle Strap will ensure that you're at the very least optimizing the weight distribution which will contribute to your playing facility. Additionally, when sitting, many banjos tend to fall slightly down with the neck distributing the weight ... with the Circle Strap installed, this neck heavy downturn is completely eliminated for the strap natural supports the neck in one position ... again, contributing to better facility and better positioning for proper form.
More Comfort:
Designed with extra width that starts far below the shoulder and continues all the way down the back...has even better cushioning than most any strap you'll find...has a simulated sheepskin underside.

Easy to Install and Adjust—
Very easy to install...shouldn't take more than 2 minutes. Once installed, it will last you a lifetime. Adjusts for any height ... adjustment is only necessary when first installing the strap. Notice in the picture below how the strap weaves underneath the tension hooks...the excess tie is woven underneath the tension hooks also...

Questions & Answers:
Subject: banjo strap
Mickey,
I'm trying to find a banjo strap with a shoulder pad. I would like one that attaches with clips, so I can remove it when I don't want it on.
All I seem to be able to find is guitar straps with button holes at the ends.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Robert Edwards
Greetings Robert,
Glad to assist:
The type of banjo straps that have the hooks to hook on to the tension hooks of the banjo, are usually cheaper and do not have thick shoulder pads...yes, these are easier to remove only the weight is distrubuted unevenly...additionally, there's lots of weight put on the two tension hooks that the clips attach to. This shouldn't be a problem with a lighter banjo...however, a banjo that has both a tone ring and a resonator has too much weight for a tension hook strap...We do carry them...
Now, the best banjo strap we've seen are the cradle type...such as the FOTW Circle Strap...only, they are quite expensive...and do require installation of which makes it difficult to remove quickly. Even so, I've used Circle Straps for years and have never found a reason to remove one...when sitting down, the Circle Strap helps distribute the weight evenly and supports the neck so that it doesn't slip slowly down while playing...most banjo necks are top heavy and when sitting without a strap, you'll find the neck will slowly fall downwards...you'll be consciously trying to hold up the neck while fretting which can be quite distracting.

Hello from Sweden! Got my cradle strap yesterday (my friend Magnus did the order via paypal),
and after installing it I was off for a two hour jam-session, and I'm one happy customer.
I've got a heavy banjo (Gold Tone BG250F) but standing up for two hours was not a problem, and it looks (and smells) really great! And it feels like it will outlive me, great quality!!
Thanks for an outstanding product!!

Subject: F C Banjo strap
Dear FOTW, I received my F. C. Banjo Strap today 1/15/2005. I went to your website for installation instructions they were very detailed and made it a breeze to install. The moment I slung the banjo over my shoulder I knew this was the strap for me. The comfort and balance it affords make playing a reel pleasure. I wish I knew about your products sooner, I would not have wasted my money on an inferrer clip on strap. Thank you for the great survive. Hope to do more business in the future. Best wishes J. Bonczek, Kingston Pa.
